The "golden milk" in the afternoon: nothing against a cup of coffee in the afternoon! But now and then the Ayurvedic alternative does wonders! It is not only appreciated as a stimulating drink in Ayurveda - many advantages are enjoyed by this "golden milk": it has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, especially in the joints, strengthens our immune system and stimulates liver function. Strictly speaking, it is caused by the turmeric: the curcumin acts u. a. analgesic, antioxidant, antiseptic and strengthens the immune system.

The best way to make a Turmeric-paste that holds in the refrigerator for about a week and enough for 4-5 cups:

• 2 tablespoons turmeric (in powder form)

• 220 ml of pure water

• Freshly grated ginger - about 2 cm

• ½ teaspoon nutmeg

Put the water in a pot. Now add the turmeric powder. Peel fresh ginger and rub it clean. Add nutmeg and bring to a slow boil while stirring. After about ten minutes, a still slightly liquid paste is formed.

Allow this paste to cool slightly and transfer to a mason jar. Please do not take plastic - first, anyway, not good for us and 2. Turmeric would stain it beautiful yellow forever!

And now the recipe for the "golden milk":

• 300 ml of vegetable milk such as coconut-rice milk or oatmeal, almond milk ...

• 1 tablespoon or more turmeric paste

• 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

• 1 pinch of cinnamon

• 1 pinch of pepper

Warm the plant milk. Now add the turmeric paste, the coconut oil and cinnamon and pepper and mix everything together. Take a beautiful big cup and enjoy it! If you want you can of course add some honey or agave syrup to sweeten! Now and then stir!
